In February as Fashion Week kicks off around the globe, we delve into the world of “Fast Fashion” and its impact on the environment and industry workers. Fast Fashion refers to the cheaply made, mass produced garments, which not only produces millions of tons of greenhouse gasses, contributes to air pollution, and uses millions of gallons of water in its production, it often uses unethical work practices to produce the garments in other countries.

Remake is a community-based organization of fashion lovers, focused on the environment, and women’s rights. Their mission is to change the industry’s harmful practices on the people and the planet. Sophia is a fashion designer in Oakland, who designs upcycled and hand-dyed fashion and she started on her commitment to sustainability in 2015 after she watched the movie True Cost.
